My Story

My relationship with photography began in front of the camera as a subject of many of my father’s photos, taken with his trusty Minolta. I enjoyed the memories captured in those thousands of images, but I preferred to stay behind the camera. So, for a number of years I simply enjoyed photography as a creative outlet as I focused on other pursuits such as engineering, web design, and work with various non-profits. It was after living in Thailand in 2004-2005 that I discovered my passion for the power of photography as a means to connect with others, tell stories, and make a positive difference in the world. A few years later I took the step of faith - and believe me, it was a step of faith - to pursue photography as my primary vocation. My work has evolved and expanded since then, but I haven’t looked back.

And now the important stuff. I’m husband to an amazing wife. I’m dad to three beautiful, full-of-life children. I love God and people, but far too often fail at both. I love to collaborate with creators and organizations to do work that contributes to a world as it ought to be.

I am based in Boulder, CO and San Francisco, CA, but love to connect and collaborate with people and communities everywhere.

Stories make us more alive, more human, more courageous, more loving.

My Vision

Every human being is unique and beautiful, yet there is much more that unites us than separates us. Dignity. Love. Faith. Community. Creativity. Redemption. Values such as these are what compels me to create and tell stories. I now use a variety of tools with which to create, but it is only through listening, learning, and loving those around me that the most compelling stories are revealed. My desire is to use the power of story, through image, sound, and word, to contribute to a world as it “ought to be.”

My Process

Listen. Learn. Love. Create.

My Tools

The tools I use to create and share stories extends far beyond my camera and lenses. To see the gear I am currently using, must-have apps, and my ever present journals (currently a Baron Fig and a Moleskine), take a peek inside the toolbox.

Social Media

I listen. I learn. I love...preferably in person, but also here and at other online destinations. Let's connect.

My Launchpad

My work takes me many places and across multiple disciplines. Visit my launchpad for links that will connect you to my work around the web.
